Which Derfen™ cream should I use to relieve my horse’s itching?

Does your horse scratch its ears, head, belly, legs, etc.? Lotions are not the best type of product for such areas. But first of all, you need to know which natural anti-itch cream your horse needs, according to how thick its skin is.

Is the skin thin or thick?

Finding out couldn’t be easier: pinch a bit of the skin on your horse’s neck between thumb and forefinger. If you have picked up a narrow fold of skin (as in the left-hand photo), then your horse has thin skin. If, on the other hand, you have a wider fold of skin (as in the right-hand photo), the epidermis is more likely to be thick.

Of course, when a horse has dermatitis, we tend to focus on the irritated, lichenified and therefore thickened skin, but that’s just the result of all the scratching and doesn’t represent the true identity of the epidermis.
