Avoid using “detergents” – choose a specially formulated shampoo instead!
Traditional shampoos attack the skin, because they are intended to remove a maximum of oil from it. But their powerful detergent action weakens the epidermis, removing its protective element (sebum) and leaving your horse’s skin weaker, and therefore more vulnerable to insect attack, for at least 24 hours.
