On Friday, 4 March 2016, the Animaderm Observatory launched its first large-scale study of dermatitis. The survey is aimed at identifying risk factors for skin problems, regardless of whether or not the horse is currently affected. More than 1900 usable responses have been submitted in France, making this survey the biggest in the world of its kind.
The survey, which was available online, has allowed the Observatory to identify a wide range of lifestyles led by horses both with and without skin problems, including details about their diets, environments and activity levels.
The survey is non-commercial and has allowed the Observatory to draw up an accurate and detailed analysis of factors that affect skin problems in horses. The results have been handled and analysed by the Observatory’s teams, then summarised in a document that will be provided at no cost
to public veterinary research organisations and to national stud farms.
