Horse Ringworm
Impressive but not so terrible
Summary definition : Skin disease caused by a keratinophilic fungus (Trychophyton equinum)
Symptoms: Loss of hair in a circular pattern, surrounded by scabs and skin flakes. No itching, except to remove flaking skin. Very contagious, both directly and indirectly (via the grooming kit or the environment, etc.).
Season: Mainly autumn/winter, owing to the humidity, but possible all year round
Areas affected: Head, neck, thorax, sometimes legs
Short-term care: Antifungal and isolation. Disinfect equipment.
Indicative information - Does not replace consultation with a veterinarian
